Children and adults with large or protruding ears often find their ears to be a source of embarrassment. Prominent ears draw attention away from other features. Children are often teased by their friends and may find it difficult to express their feeling about their ears to their parents. Adults with prominent ears often carry with them psychological scars from the teasing they received as children. Fortunately, a cosmetic operation called otoplasty exists which can safely and quickly create normal matching ears.

Otoplasty
Otoplasty is a safe surgical procedure designed to reduce the prominence of protruding ears. He has been performing otoplasty for over 20 years. Otoplasty produces some of the happiest patients that the doctor sees as it is a relatively easy way to dramatically improve a patient's appearance. The doctor has performed otoplasty on patients as young as 7 and as old as 78. The procedure is performed in the surgicenter under general anesthesia. This is a AAAASF approved surgical facility where safety is always the number 1 priority. Anesthesia is administered by anesthesiologists.
Otoplasty is performed by making an incision on the back of the ear exposing the ear cartilage. A new fold is created in the ear with sutures and the entire ear is tipped back. This results in ears that do not look pinned back and are symmetrical.
Most patients will experience pain in the ears for several days. The ears will be swollen and red for about a week. The results are permanent.
As with all surgical procedures, otoplasty operations do carry with it some risk. To learn more about otoplasty and other cosmetic procedures, please contact our office today.
