Facelift and Plastic Surgery

Perhaps more than any other area in cosmetic procedures, plastic surgery represents an art form. No two cosmetic physicians perform facelifts the same and the results vary tremendously. No two patients are the same either. Patients vary in how extensive and dramatic they wish the changes to be. Every one of us, however, carries a mental picture of how we think we should look. The challenge for the patient is to accurately convey this mental picture to the plastic surgeon. The challenge for plastic surgeon is to understand the patient's goals and to design a treatment plan that will accomplish these goals.

Facelifts and other procedures are performed in our AAAASF-certified office surgicenter. Most plastic procedures are performed under general anesthesia administered by anesthesiologists. Incisions are hidden in skin folds or behind the follicle line.

Facelifts and other operations all produce some discomfort, swelling, and bruising. Discomfort is usually gone within several days, but swelling and bruising can take from one to three weeks to resolve. As with all surgical procedures, the operation does carry with it some risk.
